Małgorzata Sulmicka - Zdrowie publiczne w świetle wskaźników monitorowania strategii zrównoważonego rozwoju UE
Public health - strongly connected to both environmental conditions and economic development - has been chosen as one of the seven priorities in the EU Strategy for Sustainable Development. The article reviews the indicators used to monitor public health priority and trends visible there in this field in the EU27, with particular attention paid to Poland. EU citizens leading increasingly long lives in good health proves that progress is being made in the area of both health and implementing sustainable development paradigm. Nevertheless, new and even bigger challenges in this field continually appear.

Anna Kurowska - Bariery i uwarunkowania aktywności zawodowej młodych matek w Polsce
Compared to other EU countries, Poland has one of the lowest employment rates of women with children aged 0-5 years, in particular, mothers with low and medium level of education. As shown by the results of research and experience of other countries, the conditions that favor the growth of professional activity and employment of this group of women, and which in Poland are not met, are the following: 1) popularity of flexible forms, notably "good quality" part-time work and opportunities for flexible working arrangements, 2) access to relatively cheap care services for children, 3) not too long maternity and paternal leave and 4) individual taxation. In the conclusion, the author considers the strengths and weaknesses of selected solutions that can help to overcome barriers to economic activity of young mothers in Poland.

The indicators characterizing these towns were collected and compared with Poland and voivodship as a whole. The studies showed various situation in two towns. Hosing resources in Olsztyn and Elbląg are bigger than national and voivodship average, but the dynamic and structure is not the same.
