Elżbieta Kryńska – Elastyczność zatrudnienia na
polskim rynku pracyThe article presents an
analysis of the flexibility of employment on the Polish labour market. EPL
indicator and the share of the employed in non-standard forms of employment in
the total number of the employed were used in the analysis. In order to achieve
objective assessments the analysed indicators in Poland and other EU countries

Koordynacja systemów zabezpieczenia społecznego we Wspólnocie Europejskiej
The paper explains the idea of co-ordination of social
security schemes in European Union. The attention was paid both to the evolution
of co-ordination within a long period of time and to particular character of EC
Regulation in comparison to provisions of international agreements on social
security. It is also very important that the European Community law doesn't
change conditions of acquisition of the right to social security benefits laid
down in the national legislation. The co-ordination is supposed to guarantee
keeping rights acquired resulting from the social security and rights being in
the course of acquisition so that persons which want to make a use of free
movement of persons within Community would not be treated worse in the scope of
the social security than persons which worked only in one Member State.
Marlena Kilian – Niepełnosprawni w społeczeństwie
The purpose of the article is to present social determinants of age-related
disability derived from the actual definition of disability according to World
Health Organization. This definition emphasizes social causes of disability
determined not solely by physical impairment but also by influence of physical
and social environment. The environmental characteristics may lead to
minimization or intensification of experienced impairment effects. Similarly in
the case of disabled people in older age some aspects of social life may further
limit their physical ability or even play a dominant role in the process of
premature and pathological aging, what is confirmed by richly cited research
studies in this area. The major attention was paid to: feeling of loneliness of
seniors, social prejudices and discrimination because of age, overprotective
attitudes, social unawareness about the reality of biopsychosocial condition in
older age or insufficient adaptation of physical environment not satisfying
older people needs. The study is completed by the problem of positive social
support in the area of the complex functioning of the aged.

The paper presents research and didactic achievements of the Institute of Social
Policy of Warsaw University, one of the oldest academic centers which educates
students in the sphere of social policy and does the research in the field of
social policy, understood as a science and a form of public activity. The text
introduces into the very idea of the jubilee and presents the activities which
the team of the Institute undertook to celebrate its 30-th anniversary. The work
presents the origins of the Institute and its creators, characterizes its
research achievements in the past 30 years, presents the evolution of didactic
programs, forms and partners of scientific and didactic cooperation in Poland
and abroad. It also presents persons and institutions important for the
development of the Institute and its achievements. Finally the paper includes
plans for the future of the Institute as the academic centre influential for the
development of the science of social policy.
Robert Pawlak – Nauczyciele i dyrektorzy szkół o
programie „Zero tolerancji dla przemocy w szkole”
The aim of the paper is to present opinions of teachers and school masters on
the Governmental Program of Improvement of Security at Schools and
Establishments “Zero Tolerance for Violence at School”. The special attention
was paid to their views on four elements of the program: introducing school
uniforms for students, granting teacher protection afforded to public officers,
implementation of video surveillance of entrances of schools and consideration
of introduction of schools for aggressive students.
Krystyna Iglicka, Agata Młodawska – Programy
zatrudniania obcokrajowców w Europie i USA
Authors of his paper describe temporary workers schemes in Western Europe and US
since 1945 till presence. They also analyse migration policies of the regions in
question in the context of labour migration. This paper should serve as an
document for all those who are in charge of migration law. It should especially
serve as an background paper for those policy makers in CEE region, who while
creating the law would like to avoid mistakes and, learn lessons form countries
with much longer than Poland immigration history.
