Zofia Jacukowicz - Wages, pay or salary?
In Poland, salary is the main word used to describe income from work. In practice however, people use a variety of expressions, depending on how the work contract they are referring to is formulated. This discrepancy frequently creates confusion as to which exact word should be used in which specific instance. The goal of this text is to precisely define those different words. In the article the names for remuneration, which are most frequently used, are listed, their meaning is discussed, their origin and subtle differences are outlined. The question, how the changes in labor relations and salary systems influence creation of new vocabulary, and how they change.

Aldona Klimkiewicz - Social and legal conditionings of the professional activity of population 50+ on the labour market
This article focuses on the problem of unemployment of people over 50 years of age in Poland. Restructuring of the economy causes that they are the first to be redundant and the last to be re-employed. The aim of the employment policy is the professional activity amongst the elderly population, but the one leaded so far is insufficient especially for these with low qualifications. This activity should be supported by facilitating the access to the employment, social and professional integration.

Author distinguishes and describes the criteria, which serve to differentiate the levels of pension system. Next, with the aid of subjective criterion (being used (known) for classic model of pension system) and financial method criterion (applied in Poland from the beginning of the reform started in 1999), author proposes model of four-pillar pension system.

The basis for the beginning of the analysis was the identification of the professions which were of highest deficit rate in the analysed big groups in the first half of the year 2006. Then the data was compared with the first half of the year 2007 and analogically the same period of 2008. It was the basis to capture the change trends. The scarce professions were defined with the use of the methodology of the scarce professions and the surplus professions used in the public employment service.
