In the article we present the results of our research in using social housing instruments to support the processes of social de-marginalization of homeless persons. We formulate also the recommendation in this area for local social policy. Our research concerns immediate to the situation in Poznań, but it also gives picture of situation in whole Poland. One of our important conclusion is: the homeless person's access to social dwellings is increasingly difficult, but, in other side, there are much less people, than in the nineties years, who getting homeless for the reason of eviction.

Long-term unemployment became permanent Europe and world phenomenon provoking discussion and research of itself and the effects, which it cause at different areas. Despite technological progress in the field of information technology, medicine or engineering, there are still no effective solutions for preventing or counteracting this important social problem. This is still new aspect of Polish young democracy and market economy that started in 1989. I want to bring closer this phenomenon and show the typology of long-term unemployed people in Poland.

The first part of the article retraces the main stages in the development of time use surveys and identifies recent methodological issues. Time use researchers use a specific type of questionnaire devise, the activity diary which describes account of respondent's life activities. The results received from time use surveys can be used in further studies what has been described in the second part. Such surveys seem to be irreplaceable in the researches concerning leisure time, knowledge about work schedules and the effect of the family work on the family time. Author focused on this third aspect. Based on current literature she presents how desynchronized work schedules of dual-earner couples reduce the time spouses spend together and with their children.

The article presents partial results of the survey conducted on population of 6000 unemployed inhabitants of Ruda Śląska. It was diagnosed how the time of staying unemployed influences various aspects of job activation of the unemployed. The change dynamics of motivation level to start work was analysed in particular here together with the willingness to raise work qualifications and spatial mobility when the time of being unemployed got to lengthen. A significant part of the research was marking the level of civilisation competence possessed by the unemployed (among other: driving licence, ability to use a computer, knowledge of a foreign language) and showing how the level of such competence changes in case of the unemployed depending on how long they stay unemployed.
